Hi everyone! Turkey is a huge country filled with cultural and historical sites. In this post, we will explain the destinations around Istanbul and Day Trips from Istanbul where you may consider visiting during your potential Turkey Tour!
GALLIPOLI TOUR
Gallipoli is about 270 km from Istanbul. It is especially a very meaningful destination for Australians and New Zealanders. However, it catches the attention of every traveler from around the world, today! It is the place where World War I held. And, keep many memorials.
Generally, travelers pick Gallipoli 2 Day Tours from Istanbul and combine their time with visiting Troy Ancient City. Tours to Gallipoli and Troy in 2 Days might be a nice option if you have an extra 2 days in Turkey.
BURSA CITY TOUR
Bursa was the capital of the Ottoman Empire and today located about 150 km away from Istanbul. There are very nice examples of the mosques from the earlier Islam seen in Anatolia. TROY ANCIENT CITY TOURS

The entrance fee is 50 Lira per person. It is one of the most popular ancient cities where you may see 9 different layers settled one to another. PERGAMUM TOURS
Pergamum or Pergamon is about 385 km from Istanbul. Pergamum – Acropolis Ancient City is open between 08:00 to 19:00, 1 April to 1 October. And, it is open between 08:30 to 17:30, 2 October to 1 April. The entrance fee is 50 Lira per person by 2020.
Generally, travelers combine it with some other destinations. This means they do not visit only Pergamum during their Travel. We do also recommend visiting Asclepios Ancient City located next to the Acropolis. Asclepios is the person considered as the father of modern medicine and who has given a name to this city.
Note: It is not possible to find day trips from Istanbul to Pergamum (in a group) as there is not much demand to visit only this destination. However, it is possible to arrange a Private Tour in case you have an interest.
EPHESUS TOURS
Ephesus Ancient City was one of the 4 capitals of the Roman Empire once upon a time. And, it is the largest open-air museum, besides one of the most well-preserved ancient ruins of Turkey. Even if you are not a history or culture lover, we highly recommend you to visit Ephesus Ruins since it gives great vision and perspective to its visitors about ancient Greek and Roman time.

Once you arrived at Ephesus, it is not the only important place that you might visit! PAMUKKALE TOUR FROM ISTANBUL
Pamukkale is about 550 km away from Istanbul. And, the best option to reach Pamukkale is to take a flight. Pamukkale is open visiting between 06:30 to 19:00, all year round. The entrance fee is 80 Lira per person by 2020.
Pamukkale is the second most famous place in the Aegean Region after the Ephesus. It is a very unique place where you are able to see a formation of calcium carbonate mixed to lime-stone. And, terraces filled with natural hot spring water.
It is located only 200 km away from Ephesus Ruins. And, there are Day Tours with all year round guaranteed departures. Most of the travelers, combine those two destinations: Ancient City of Ephesus and Pamukkale Hot Springs. And, they do pick 2 Days Ephesus and Pamukkale Tour from Istanbul.
So, on the first day; they fly and visit Ephesus Ancient City, stay overnight in Kusadasi Town. And, the second day; they do visit Pamukkale Springs. In the end, they return to Istanbul. Read our post about Pamukkale!
ANTALYA AND FETHIYE TOURS
These places more preferred by travelers who seek the sea, sand, and sun! There are several local travel agencies that operate 4 Days and 3 Nights blue cruise tours within Antalya City and Fethiye Town.
So, if you like to stay away from crowds and relax for a couple of days, this might be the best place for you. You can enjoy sailing on the turquoise blue Mediterranean coast while having overnight stays in the gulet.
Antalya is about 700 km away from Istanbul and Fethiye is about 800 km away from Istanbul. The best way to reach these destinations is by taking a flight. However, most of the travelers first take their tours to Ephesus and Pamukkale and then connect their schedules to Fethiye and Antalya.
CAPPADOCIA TOURS
Cappadocia is the most famous and popular tourism center in Turkey! It is about 750 km away from Istanbul. You can reach Cappadocia by flight, train, or bus. However, the most preferred is taking a flight.

For those who do not have much time, it is possible to have a one-day trip from Istanbul to Cappadocia. However, 2 Days Tour to Cappadocia is the most preferred tour package among travelers.
