In this post, we will mention the history of Bursa City, today’s Bursa city, and Cumalikizik Village…
HISTORY OF BURSA TURKEY
The first settlement was established in a hilly area in the North West of Anatolia by the British in 185 BC. And this place is called Prusa. Between B.C. 74 to A.D. 395, it remained under the control of the Romans. It was under Byzantine rule between A.D. 395 to A.D. 1326.
The city, which was located on the same hill until the Ottoman period, became the capital of the Ottoman Empire, and it spilled beyond the city walls. The Ottoman Sultans expanded the city further, and the Kulliyes built on the hills played an important role during the Ottoman Empire period.
Kulliyes are the most important foundation structures in the Ottoman Empire and represent solidarity in the understanding of Islam. The fact that the first complex of the Ottoman period is located in Bursa has made it even more interesting. The first Kulliye was built by Sultan Orhan in 1339 consisting of a mosque, imaret, madrasah, bathhouse, and inn.

The village takes many visitors on a journey from the past to the present, with its narrow and stone streets and colorful mudbrick houses.
